NEWS ITEMS FROM HERE AND THERE 

CLAREMONT WOMAN DIES AT AGE OF 95 

  Claremont, Va., March 23 - Mrs. Jane Goodyear, one of the oldest residents 
of Surry County, died early this morning at her home here after a short 
illness.  Mrs. Goodyear would have been 95 years old in May, but until her 
fatal illness of about a week, she was active in her home and garden, and 
still a keen student of public affairs. 

  Mrs. Goodyear was a native of Pennsylvania, but had resided in Claremont 
for the past thirty-five years.  She is survived by one daughter, Miss Wilma 
Goodyear, of Claremont, and other relatives in Pennsylvania. 

  The body will be shipped tomorrow morning to Mechanicsburg, Pa., where 
funeral services and burial will take place.
