GARLAND GOODRICH - (MARY BUTLER GOODRICH) J. Garland Goodrich (1900 - 1985) was a farmer, living and farming where Laura Anne Goodrich lives today. He also drove a truck hauling livestock and bagged fertilizer for farmers in the area. He married Mary Butler (1903 - 1999). Mary was active in all areas of the church, teaching the Youth Class in the Sunday school many years and was very active in the UMW. She also taught the fourth grade at Wakefield High School. Their love for the church was passed on to their children who were all active in their respective churches during their lifetime. The family has been very generous with gifts to the church through the years, donating large print Bibles for Sunday school classes, brass collection plates (still used today), handicapped ramp, and sound system to name a few. Both Garland and Mary are buried in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Thanks to Laura Anne Goodrich for the picture and information. ****************************************************************************** ROCKY HOCK CHURCH BULLETIN - REMEMBERING: J. GARLAND GOODRICH 1900 - 1985 AND MARY BUTLER GOODRICH 1903 - 1979 J. Garland Goodrich was son of Benjamin Hawkins and Ansebelia Goodrich and the grandson of Joseph Henry and Darthula Bailey. Mary was very active in the UMW and was president of this organization. She also taught the fourth grade at Wakefield High School. After Garland and Mary's death, their children gave several gifts to honor the memory of their parents - a large print Bible to the L.P.
