JOHN GOODRICH, JR. PORTSMOUTH - John Waverly Goodrich, Jr., 74, a native of Southampton County died Tuesday, Jan. 28. Mr. Goodrich was a retired machinist and auto mechanic. He was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Wakefield. Survived by his wife, Nedith Bell Bady Goodrich; a son, John W. Goodrich III of Houston, Texas; five sisters, Mary A. Goodrich and Mabel G. Johnson of Wakefield, Margaret G. Doss of Newsoms, Edith G. Barrett of Zuni and Charlotte G. Carden of Grandy, N.C.; two stepsisters, Rose Logan of Wakefield and Esther Wood of Holland; two brothers, E. Carlton Goodrich of Bradenton, Fla., and Herbert Goodrich of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; a half-brother, Ronnie Goodrich of Wakefield; three stepbrothers, Fred Butler of Waverly, Thomas Butler of Chesapeake and Robert Butler of Clearwater, Fla; and a granddaughter. Visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at funeral home by the Rev. Jess V. Staton. Burial in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wakefield. Memorials to American Heart Association.
