Goodrich, 77, died Saturday at his home here. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vivian Goodrich; a daughter, Mrs. Norman Bradshaw of Suffolk; two sons, Roy Goodrich of Norfolk and Fred T. Goodrich of Richmond, and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Baker Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** James Goodrich Dies Unexpectedly James Albert Goodrich, 76, died unexpectedly Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at his home, 410 Jackson St. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home by the Rev. Mahlon Elliott, pastor of Oxford Methodist Church, and the Rev. A. Woodrow Laine, former pastor. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The John E. Martin Bible Class of Oxford Methodist Church have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Goodrich worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 27 years, retiring in 1942. He was a member of Oxford Methodist Church and the John E. Martin Bible Class of the church. He was a son of the late Benjamin Hawkins Goodrich and Ansebelia Bailey Goodrich of Surry County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vivian Rawls Goodrich of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Norman N. Bradshaw; two sons, James Roy Goodrich of Norfolk and Frederick Trent Goodrich of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Ida May Rogers and Mrs. Alfred J. Brittle of Wakefield, two brothers, Benjamin J. Goodrich and Garland C. [sic. J. Garland] Goodrich of Wakefield; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** Rites Held Sunday For James A. Goodrich Funeral services for James Albert Goodrich, who died Saturday, were conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. at the Baker Funeral Home by the Rev. Mahlon Elliott, pastor of Oxford Methodist Church. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Elliott read the hymn, "Lead Kindly Light." Mrs. George Rogers and Mrs. Ashby Miles sang "Will the Circle be Unbroken?" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. William F. Whitley. The casket was covered with a pall of white carnations and white chrysanthemums. Pallbearers were Oliver Rogers, Elwood Goodrich, Cephas Goodrich, Ernest Goodrich and Boyd Curtis, all nephews of the deceased.
