  PORTSMOUTH - Nedith Bell Bady Goodrich, 82, the widow of John Waverly 
Goodrich, Jr., died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997.  Arrangements by Purviance Funeral 
Home.

NEDITH BELL BADY GOODRICH 

  PORTSMOUTH - Nedith Bell Bady Goodrich, 82, formerly of Portsmouth, died 
Nov. 21, 1997, at a Pensacola, Fla. hospital. 

  A native of Alabama, she was the widow of John Waverly Goodrich, Jr. 

  Mrs. Goodrich is survived by her son, John W. Goodrich III of Houston, 
Texas; a half-brother-in-law, Ronnie Goodrich of Wakefield; step-brothers, 
Robert Butler of Clearwater, Fla., Thomas Butler of Chesapeake, Fred Butler 
of Waverly; and a granddaughter. 

  A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield, by the Rev. C. Randy Duncan.  Burial will be in Rocky Hock Church 
Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior 
to the service.  Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
