GOODRICH LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Mr. Orvid Elgin Goodrich, 87, died Aug. 5, 1987, in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a former resident of Dendron from 1921 to 1926. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Frances Ketchum Goodrich; a son; a sister; a grandson; and three great-grandchilden. A memorial service will be conducted at noon Saturday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. E. Lee Chattin. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Methodist Church cemetery, Surry County. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. ****************************************************************************** ORVID ELGIN GOODRICH Mr. Orvid Elgin Goodrich, 87, a resident of Dendron from 1921 to 1926, died August 5, 1987 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was the son of the late Winfield D. and Minnie Conley [sic; Connelly] Goodrich, who were former members of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Surry County. While in Dendron, Mr. Goodrich worked for the Sussex-Surry-Southampton Railroad as a fireman, 1922-25. Leaving Dendron in 1926, he and his wife, Mary Frances Ketchum Goodrich, moved to Annandale, Va., where he worked for C & P Telephone Company for 27 years until his retirement in 1965. While in Annandale, he was a member of Annandale United Methodist Church. He was also a self-employed home improvement company contractor. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Ketchum Goodrich of Lake Worth, Fla.; a son, Walter D. Goodrich of West Palm Beach; a sister, Carolyn G. Raskoki of Alexandria; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, at noon, Saturday, May 7, by the Rev. E. Lee Chattin. Burial will follow in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
