GWALTNEY BURIED TUESDAY IN SURRY COUNTY Mrs. Sarah A. Gwaltney, 89, widow of Charles H. Gwaltney, and a native of Surry County, died early May 11th in a Richmond hospital after a long illness. Surviving are two sons, Charles T. Gwaltney, of Spring Grove; three granddaughters, Miss Willie Gwaltney of Spring Grove, Mrs. Ellsworth Hatch of Petersburg and Mrs. Will M. Gwaltney of Surry; three grandsons, Owen, Clyde and Shirley Gwaltney of Surry County, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m at the home of Charles T. Gwaltney, in Surry County, and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. The body was taken from the Jones Funeral Home in Smithfield Tuesday at 1 a.m. to the Gwaltney residence.
