Huber, 72, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 28, 2013. Born in Newport News, Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence David Huber and Mattie Hargrave Huber. David retired from Union Camp/IP after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Ivor Masonic Lodge for many years. David was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather who worked hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and spending time with his Chows. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years, Beatrice "Bea" Duck Huber; daughters, Sharon H. Atkins (Donald); Patricia H. Warriner (Donnie), and Janet H. Cowling (William); grandchildren, Carrie E. Atkins, Regan B. Cowling, Marc W. Cowling, Nathan F. Atkins and Dean Cowling and sisters, Betty H. Brinkley and Joyce H. Fuller. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Rocky Hock UMC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or to a charity of your choice. ****************************************************************************** ROCKY HOCK CHURCH BULLETIN - DAVID WILLIAM HUBER - 11-01-1940 - 04-28-2013 David William Huber was a member of Rocky Hock Church. He was the son of Lawrence D. Huber and Mattie Hargrave Huber. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Surry. David was the oldest of three children, and is survived by his two sisters, Betty Brinkley and Joyce Fuller. Three years after graduation he married Beatrice "Bea" Duck on March 2, 1962, and they had three daughters. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years Bea, daughters, Sharon H. Atkins, Patricia H. Warriner and Janet H. Cowling and five grandchildren. David was a member of Ivor Masonic Lodge No. 291 for many years. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed boating, camping and water sports, and all his daughters knew how to water-ski. He was also fond of fishing trips to Cape Hatteras. He enjoyed gardening, loved to read, and was an avid Nascar fan. In his later years, he turned to woodworking and long walks with his chow-chow. David worked several places before working at Union Camp in Franklin, including Cobb's Automotive and two farm equipment dealerships where he received training and learned new skills along the way. Always the mechanic, he was able to work on anything from the smallest piece of equipment to bulldozers or cranes. David retired in 2000 from Union Camp/IP after 30 years of service in Automotive Maintenance. He was laid to rest on May 1, 2013 in the Rocky Hock Church Cemetery.
