Holt, 64, prominent citizen of Surry County, died this morning at the Johnson-Willis Hospital, Richmond, after a short illness. Mr. Holt was the son of Francis Harris Holt and Fannie Bagnall Holt and was widely known and connected in Surry County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dena Barham Holt; seven daughters, Mrs. Sadie Anderson, and Mrs. Delia McFall, of Norfolk; Mrs. Annie Forbes, of Ocean View; Mrs. Susie Mitchell, Mrs. Hilda Scott, Mrs. Fannie Davis, and Miss Hilah Holt, of Surry; four sons, F.P. Holt, of Norfolk; F.H. Holt, of Washington; Hames and Henry Holt, of Surry; a sister, Mrs. Annie Mercer, of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Bacon’s Castle Church by the Rev. Morton Rixey and the Rev. Richard Robinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be P.C. Cox, Gordon, Marvin and Edward Berryman, P.P. Rowell and A.M. Savedge. ****************************************************************************** SERVICES HELD FOR JAMES H. HOLT James H. Holt, 64 years of age and lifelong resident of Surry County, died Tuesday morning at 7:00 o'clock at Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond. After a short illness. Mr. Holt a prominent farmer and merchant was well- known throughout the County. Besides his wife, Mrs. Dena Barham Holt, he is survived by seven daughters: Mrs. Sadie Anderson, Mrs. Delia McFalls of Norfolk, Mrs. Annie Forbes of Ocean View; Mrs. Susie Mitchell, Mrs. Hilda Scott and Misses Fannie and Doris Holt of Surry; four sons, F.P. Holt of Newport News, F.H. Holt of Washington, D.C., James Holt of Surry and Henry Holt of Norfolk; one brother, Walter Holt of Surry; one sister, Mrs. Annie Mercer of Norfolk; ten grandchildren and two nieces. He was the son of the late Francis Paris Holt and Mrs. Fannie Begnal Holt. Funeral services were held at Bacon's Castle, Wednesday, December 7th with the Rev. Lawton Riley officiating. Active pallbearers were P.C. Cox, Gordon Berryman, Madison Berryman, Edwin Berryman, P.P. Rowell, A.M. Savedge. ****************************************************************************** JAMES H. HOLT Funeral services for James H. Holt, prominent Surry County citizen were conducted Wednesday afternoon December 7th at Bacons Castle Church, by the Rev. Lawton Riley and the Rev. Richard Robinson. Burial was in the church cemetery. The choir of Bacon’s Castle Church sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." The casket was covered with a pall of red and white carnations. Active pallbearers were P.C. Cox, Gordon, Marvin and Edward Berryman and A.M.
