HANCOCK SURRY - Funeral services for Benjamin Walter Hancock, 78, who died Monday night at the home of his son, P.L. Hancock, were conducted Wednesday at Rocky Hock Methodist Church by the Rev. R.M. Robertson of the Surry Methodist Church and the Rev. R.N. Hartness, pastor of the Rocky Hock Methodist Church. Interment was in the family plot in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mr. Hancock, who was a son of Joseph Henry and Georgie Richardson Hancock, had been in ill health for about a year. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Edwards of South Norfolk and Mrs. Percy Pittman of Dendron; five sons, Ernest of Waterbury, Conn.; Walter of Bangar, Pa.; Benjamin of Richmond; Chris of Wakefield and Peyton Hancock of Surry; two brothers, R.L. Hancock of Newport News and J.A. Hancock of Dory, Southampton County, and several grandchildren.
