EARL WOODROW HARGRAVE 

  WAKEFIELD - Earl Woodrow Hargrave, 88, a lifelong resident of rural 
Wakefield, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002.  Born November 3, 1913, he was 
a son of the late Willie Payton Hargrave and Estelle Harville Hargrave.  He 
was a retired farmer and husband of the late Mattie Morris Hargrave, who 
passed away in 1964. 

  Mr. Hargrave is survived by one daughter, Shelby Jean Cook of Potomac, MD; 
three sons, William Earl Hargrave of Flagstaff, AZ, Melvin Woodrow Hargrave of 
Hayes, VA, and Ernest Payton Hargrave of Surry Co., VA; four grandchildren; 
three great-grandchildrlen; two sisters, Annie H. Fuller of Newport News, VA, 
and Hylah H. Clarke of Ivor, VA; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

  Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2002, at 2 p.m. at 
Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Wakefield, with the Rev. James Kerr 
officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  The family will 
receive friends at the church one prior to the service.  Purviance Funeral 
Home, Wakefield, is in charge of arrangements.
