  R. Jennings Hargrave, 88, a lifelong resident of Surry County, died Monday, 
May 27, 1996.  Arrangements by Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield.

ROBERT JENNINGS HARGRAVE 

  Mr. R. Jennings Hargrave, age 88, a lifelong resident of Surry County, died 
on Monday, May 27, 1996.  He is survived by his wife, Virginia Branch 
Hargrave; a son, R. Charles Hargrave and his wife, Jacqueline L. Hargrave, 
of Richmond; three sisters, Annie H. Fuller of Newport News, William H. 
Holland of Windsor, Hylah H. Clarke of Wakefield; two brothers, Earl W. 
Hargrave, Jesse W. Hargrave, both of Wakefield; two granddaughters, Michalle 
H. Commings, L. Monique Hargrave, both of Richmond; and one great-
granddaughter, Alexis L. Cummings.  Funeral services will be held at Purviance 
Funeral Home in Wakefield on May 30, 1996, at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Rocky 
Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wakefield.  The family will receive 
friends at the funeral home on Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m.  Memorial donations may 
be made to Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
