A native of Princess Anne County, she spent her married life in Surry County. Born Oct. 26, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John Linwood Branch and Julia Ann Lawrence Branch. Mrs. Hargrave was the wife of Robert Jennings Hargrave, who predeceased her in 1996. She was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, R. Charles Hargrave of Richmond; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter; a sister, Margaret B. Matthews of Virginia Beach; and a brother, Willard R. Branch of Suffolk. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield, with the Rev. Russell Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, c/o J.C. Cummings, all of Richmond; sister, Margaret B. Matthews, of Virginia Beach; and a brother, Willard R. Branch of Suffolk. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield, with the Rev. Russell Leonard officiating.
