HARGRAVE WAKEFIELD - Willie Peyton [sic; Payton] Hargrave, 96, of Wakefield, died Friday in a Franklin hospital. Mr. Hargrave, a retired farmer, was a life-long resident of Surry County and a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Ruby Pate of Wilson, N.C, Mrs. Annie Fuller of Newport News, Mrs. Mattie Huber of Wakefield, Mrs. Edith Uzzell of Windsor, Mrs. Wilma Holland of Zuni, Mrs. Pauline Mills of Clarksville, and Mrs. Hylah Clark of Ivor; three sons, R. Jennings Hargrave, Earl W. Hargrave and Jesse W. Hargrave, all of Wakefield; a brother, Floyd Hargrave of Colonial Heights; 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. J.A. Duncan and the Rev. L.P. Bland. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** WILLIE PAYTON HARGRAVE SURRY - Willie Peyton [sic; Payton] Hargrave, 96, died April 8 at a Franklin hospital. He was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. A lifelong resident of Surry, he was a farmer by occupation. He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Ruby Pate of Wilson, N.C.; Mrs. Annie Fuller of Newport News; Mrs. Mattie Huber of Wakefield; [Mrs. Edith Uzzell of Windsor;] Mrs. Wilma Holland of Zuni; Mrs. Pauline Mills of Clarksville; and Mrs. Hylah Clark of Ivor. Three sons, R. Jenning Hargrave of Wakefield; Earl W. Hargrave of Wakefield; and Jessie W. Hargrave of Wakefield. Twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Hargrave of Colonial Heights. A funeral service was held at Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield April 10 at 3 p.m. Burial was at the Rocky Hock Cemetery with the Rev. J.A Duncan and Rev. L.P. Bland officiating.
