HARWOOD [sic; HARWARD] DENDRON - William Eugene Harward, 77, of Dendron, died Wednesday in Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, D.C. A North Carolina native, he retired as a field representative with the United States Chamber of Commerce, Washington office, in 1964 with 25 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Washington. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Susie Barrett Harward; one daughter, Dr. Virginia H. Teller, of Manassas; one son, William Eugene Harward Jr., of Annandale, and five grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by Dr. R.E. Brittle of Hunterdale Christian Church, Franklin. Burial will be in Antioch Church Cemetery, near Windsor. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home, and request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Barrett-Harward Scholarship Fund, Elon College, Elon, N.C. "Harwood" in original corrected to "Harward" throughout.
