LOWE WAKEFIELD - Mrs. Virgie Bailey Lowe, 85, died Tuesday in Chesterfield County Nursing Home. Born in Surry County, she was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church near Wakefield. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J.C. Whitmore Jr. of Wakefield; two sons, G. Franklin Lowe and Vernon V. Lowe, both of Wakefield; a sister, Miss Bessie B. Lowe of Petersburg; a brother, George Bernard Bailey of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Lee Chattin and the Rev. R.L. Consolvo. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of Mrs. Whitmore near Wakefield. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Ivor Rescue Squad or Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. ****************************************************************************** VIRGIE BAILEY LOWE Mrs. Virgie Bailey Lowe, 85, a residence of Wakefield, died Tuesday. She was a lifelong residence of Surry County, the widow of Alvin H. Lowe, Sr. and a member of the Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.C. Whitmore, Jr.; two sons, G. Franklin Lowe and Vernon V. Lowe, all of Wakefield; she was the mother of two deceased children, A.H. Lowe, Jr. and Violet L. Smith; she is also survived by a brother, George Bernard Bailey of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Bessie B. Lowe of Petersburg; twelve grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, at 2:30 in the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Ms. J.C. Whitmore, Jr., near Wakefield, 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Ivor Rescue Squad or to the Rocky Hock Memorial fund.
