He was a lifelong resident of Surry County and a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years. Carrie Henry Lowe. He is survived by his daughters, Shelle L. Switzer and Georgette M. Wells; son, James "Buddy" Smith; grandchildren, Logan Causby, Landon Wells and Jenna Wells; a sister, Marjorie Jarrett; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Cliff Fritzinger officiating. A lifelong resident of Surry County, he was the son of the late Arthur Clayton and Bessie Bailey Lowe. He was a lifelong member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. After farming for many years, he worked for several years as a park ranger. A loving husband, Father and Grandfather, he enjoyed fishing and listening to bluegrass music. Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Carrie Henry Lowe; brothers, A.C. Lowe, Jr. and David Lowe; sisters, Edith Slatterbeck, Grace Pittman; Florence Jones, Eleanor Berryman and Audrey Buhls. He is survived by his daughters, Shelle L. Switzer and Georgette M. Wells; son, James "Buddy" Smith; grandchildren, Logan Causby, Landon Wells and Jenna Wells; a sister, Marjorie Jarrett; numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31st at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church with the Reverend Cliff Fritzinger officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He was very dedicated to his church and served the church in many capacities over the years. He was a member of the Cemetery and Perpetual Care Committee; a member of the Administrative Board, serving as its chair for a time; and served as the teacher of the Sunday School Men's Bible Class. Winston's faith in the Lord was unshakeable. He attended church faithfully until his health failed him, and was in church just a few weeks before his death.
