HANNAH ADELINE "ADDIE" HOLDWORTH MATTHEWS 

MATTHEWS 

  Died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R.A. Ligon, 2213 Shirley Ave., 
Wednesday, December 13, 1961, Mrs. Addie Holdsworth Matthews, age 90, of 
Dendron, Va.  She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. R.A. Ligon, Mrs. K.W. 
Shaw, Mrs. M.G. Townsend, Mrs. L.E. Protzman, Mrs. Hazel Luce, Mrs. Roy Cofer, 
and Mrs. F.S. Cooper; one sister, Mrs. L.T. Williams Sr.; 17 grandchildren and 
several great-grandchildren.  Remains rest at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral 
Home, Third and Marshall, until 10 p.m. Thursday, then at the Purviance 
Funeral Home, Wakefield, Va., where the funeral will be held Saturday, at 3 
p.m.  Interment in Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery, Surry County.

Her father, William A. HOLDSWORTH (b. ca. 1836) was a Confederate veteran. 
   Half disabled by the infirmities of age, he applied for a pension, 
   26 Jun 1900.  The application states he served in Co. G, 15th Virginia. 
   Ancestry.com "U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865" gives Cos. G & D, 
   13th Virginia Cavalry.
