Maynard, and brother to Birdie Maynard Presson (1882-1958). Joseph farmed all his life and lived on a farm across the road from where Richard and Carol Andrews live today. He and his wife, Martha, (1881-1968) had seven children - Fannie Bell, Susie, Joseph, Lucille, Sarah, Rebecca and Lawrence. They often entertained the ministers after church and on other occasions at their home. Two of the early Rocky Hock ministers they entertained were Reverend Ware (1915-1919) and Reverend Stiff (1922-1926). The pew in Rocky Hock Church was given by some of Joseph and Martha's children. Joseph and Martha attended Rocky Hock Church all of their life and are buried in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Birdie Maynard Presson, "Miss Birdie," also lived all of her life on the farm across the road from Richard and Carol Andrews. She was married a very short time before she lost her husband. Miss Birdie was very active in Rocky Hock Church. She taught children's classes for many years and was active in the Ladies Aid Society. It was Miss Birdie who was responsible for the stained glass window honoring her parents G.F. and Rosa B. Maynard. She is buried in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Thanks to Rebecca Maynard Gwaltney (Joseph and Martha's daughter and the granddaughter of G.F. and Rosa Maynard) for the pictures and information.
