MURPHY WAKEFIELD - Doris Brittle Murphy, 91, a native of Southampton County, died Tuesday, Sept. 14. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the church. Survived by two daughters, Dorothy M. Presson of Wakefield and Nell M. Godrick of Suffolk; a son, Stanley C. Murphy of Wakefield; a brother, Joseph C. Brittle of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Visitation from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Purviance Funeral Home. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church by the Revs. Charles Rowley and Larry Grizzard. Burial in church cemetery. Memorials to Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad or Waverly Rescue Squad.
