MURPHY WAKEFIELD - Joseph Bailey Murphy, 76, died Friday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A life-long resident and farmer of Surry County, he was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Doris Brittle Murphy; two daughters, Mrs. Nell Murphy Goodrich of Battery Park and Mrs. Harris C. Presson of Wakefield; a son, Stanley C. Murphy of Wakefield; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Hershey of Petersburg; two brothers, R. Lee Murphy of Wakefield and Guy W. Murphy of Cheverly, Md.; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Floyd A. Duncan and the Rev. L.P. Bland. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Church Cemetery.
