MORRIS, ST., 70, OF SMITHFIELD, WAS BURIED SUNDAY James R. Morris, Sr., 70, died at his home Saturday morning after a long illness. He was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, the Baraca Class and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Warren Morris; a son, James R. Morris, Jr., of Suffolk; a daughter, Miss Edna Morris, of Smithfield; a sister, Mrs. E.T. Warren of Bacon's Castle, and a brother, E.T. Morris of Rushmere. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the home by Rev. L.F. Paulette. Burial was in Old Brick Cemetery at Bacon's Castle. Pallbearers were Elvin Loomer; G.G. Bryant; J.S. Duff; Jack Darden; M.T. Hundley and D.L. Batten. Members of his Sunday School class were honorary pallbearers.
