MARSHALL OF RUSHMERE DIED DECEMBER 26TH Capt. Martin Luther Marshall, 74, Isle of Wight County oysterman, died shortly after noon December 26th at the Marine Hospital in Norfolk. A native of Accomack County, he had lived in Rushmere for the past 48 years and was engaged in planting and packing oysters. He headed the Marshall Oyster Company. He was a deacon in Bacon's Castle Baptist Church and a member of I.O.O.F. No. 269 in Smithfield. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Woolley Marshall of Rushmere; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Turner of Smithfield; two sons, S.A. Marshall of Rushmere, and W.W. Marshall of Surry; an adopted son William H. Lewis of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. C.A. Turcker of Norfolk; and three brothers, Ishmal Marshall of West Point, Elmo Marshall of Chesapeake City, Md., and Seth Marshall of Providence, R.I., 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The funeral procession left the Bullock Funeral Home Tuesday, December 28th at 10:30 a.m. for services at Bacon's Castle Baptist Church at 11 o'clock, with the Rev. J.F. Colston pastor officiating, assisted by the Rev. L.F. Paulette, pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church. Burial was in the Ivy Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Perry Chapman, Fred Rife, James Wilson, Merther Hux, Jack Davis and Nathan Woolley. Members of the Oddfellows Lodge acted as honorary pallbearers and conducted the services at the graveside. Capt.
