  SURRY, VA. - Karen Duncan Olin, 54, of Surry, was called home to be with her 
Savior, Tuesday, May 5, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Karen was 
born July 9, 1960, in South Boston, Virginia to the late Rev. Dr. Alfred J. 
Duncan, Sr. and Thaddia Bell Duncan.  Karen was a beloved member of the Mill 
Swamp Baptist Church family.  She was a former member of the Ivor Volunteer 
Rescue Squad as well as the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad.  Karen was a woman 
of tremendous faith, exemplified by her love and commitment to all of her 
brothers and sisters in Christ.  She is survived by her loving husband Randy 
Olin; daughters Amber Kessinger Wells and husband Robbie, Kristin Kessinger, 
and Ashlynn Lane; brothers Alfred Duncan, Jr. and Mark Duncan; grandchildren 
RJ Wells, Jacob Wells and Peyton Hyde; a host of nieces and nephews and 
extended family and friends.  The family will receive friends at Mill Swamp 
Baptist Church, Thursday, May 7th from 6 - 8 pm.  Services will be held at 
Mill Swamp Baptist Church, Friday, May 8th at 11 am with Pastor Jim Jones, 
Pastor Billy Gardner and Pastor John Corson officiating.  Burial will follow 
in the Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may 
be made to the Jayton D. Patterson scholarship fund c/o B&B Hunt Club, c/o 
Frank Patterson, 16447 Froggy Hollow Dr. Sedley, VA 23878, checks can be made 
out to: B&B Hunt Club or Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad P.O. Box 188 Surry, VA 
23883 in memory of Karen.  The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co.
