POND WAKEFIELD - July 9 - Mrs. John W. Pond, 74, died Tuesday at her home, "South Lawn Farm," in Surry County. Funeral rites will be conducted at the home at 11 a.m. Thursday with burial in Rocky Hock Cemetery. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Eleanor Pond, of Wakefield; two sons, Clarence E. Pond, of Roanoke, and Lyle H. Pond, of Wakefield; a granddaughter, Jack Pond, of Roanoke; a brother, James N. Edwards, of Belhaven, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. P.W. Richardson, of Elberon, and a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** MRS. JOHN W. POND FUNERAL THURSDAY AT ROCKY HOCK Funeral services for Mrs. John W. Pond, aged 74, were held today (Thursday) at 11:00 o'clock from her home in Rocky Hock neighborhood with interment in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Mrs. Pond, who had been in ill health for several years, died Tuesday evening of a heart attack. She was the former Miss Eva Edwards, daughter J.D. and Elmira Berryman Edwards, and a life-long resident of Surry County. She is survived by her husband, Jno. W. Pond; one daughter, Miss Eleanor R. Pond, of Hopewell; two sons, Clarence E. Pond of Roanoke, and Lyle H. Pond of Wakefield; one granddaughter, Jo Jacquelin Pond of Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. Percy Richardson, of Elberon; one brother, J.N. Edwards, of Belhaven, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews.
