EVA ELMIRA EDWARDS POND 

MRS. JOHN W. POND FUNERAL THURSDAY AT ROCKY HOCK 

  Funeral services for Mrs. John W. Pond, aged 74, were held today (Thursday) 
at 11:00 o’clock from her home in Rocky Hock neighborhood with interment in 
Rocky Hock Cemetery.  Mrs. Pond, who had been in ill health for several years, 
died Tuesday evening of a heart attack.

  She was the former Miss Eva Edwards, daughter J.D. and Elmira Berryman 
Edwards, and a life-long resident of Surry County.

  She is survived by her husband, Jno. W. Pond; one daughter, Miss Eleanor R. 
Pond, of Hopewell; two sons, Clarence E. Pond of Roanoke, and Lyle H. Pond of 
Wakefield; one granddaughter, Jo Jacquelin Pond of Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. 
Percy Richardson, of Elberon; one brother, J.N. Edwards, of Belhaven, N.C., 
and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her father, James Decatur EDWARDS, was a Confederate veteran, serving in the 
   Surry Light Artillery.  He was b. 7 Jun 1842, in VA, d. 23 Mar 1913, in 
   Surry Co., & was bu. 24 Mar 1913, at home.  D.Cert. 7528 (Blackwater #4) 

Her mother, Elmira Rebecca (BERRYMAN) EDWARDS, was b. 2 Nov 1843, in 
   Surry Co., d. 28 Jun 1931, in Surry Co., & was bu. 29 Jun 1931, 
   in Surry Co.  D.Cert. 15791 (Blackwater #7)
