POND WAKEFIELD - Grace Harris Pond, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Waverly Health Care Center. She was a native of Richmond and a Sussex County resident for more than 50 years. She was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Surry County, and its Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a graduate of Virginia State Teachers College (now Longwood College) and the University of Virginia and at the age of 69 received a master's in education from The College of William and Mary. Survivors include two sons, Steve R. Pond of Midlothian; a sister, Ola S. Ross of Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church by the Revs. Jess V. Staton and Winston Baldwin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Purviance Funeral Home. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alzheimers Association, Room 305, 6767 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond 23225. ****************************************************************************** GRACE HARRIS POND WAKEFIELD, VA. - Grace Harris Pond, 84, died Nov. 15, 1989, in a Waverly nursing home. Mrs. Pond, a native of Richmond, was the widow of Walter M. Pond. She was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Wakefield. She was a graduate of Virginia State Teachers College and the University of Virginia. She received her master's degree in education from the College of William and Mary at the age of 69. Survivors include two sons, Steven R. Pond of Waverly and Raymond W. Pond of Midlothian; a sister, Ola S. Ross of Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Surry County, by the Rev. Jess V. Staton and the Rev. Winston Baldwin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Purviance Funeral Home.
