JOHN DANIEL POND 

JOHN D. POND BURIED TUESDAY 

  John Daniel Pond, 77, died on January 11 at his home in Wakefield, after a 
long illness.  He was a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church, a native of 
Surry, retired farmer and son of the late Frank Drew and Sarah Ely [sic; 
Elizabeth] White Pond. 

  Survivors include one sister, Miss Lillian Pond, of Wakefield, and several 
nieces and nephews. 

  Graveside services were held January 13 at 2:30 at Rocky Hock Cemetery with 
Rev. L.P. Bland officiating.  Pallbearers were J.N. Barker, Stanley Cooper, 
Aubrey Whitmore, Ernest Goodrich, B.E. Cowling, Sr., William Peebles and 
Morris Ellis.

interred in Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery (Plot 6B*), 13 Jan 1959,

His mother was b. 20 Sep 1842 in Sussex Co., & d. 2 Nov 1930 in Surry Co., 
   of apoplexy [stroke].  She was buried 4 Nov 1930 at home, by Waverly 
   Furniture Co.  (D.Cert. 27171 {Blackwater #14})
