POND BURIED TUESDAY John Daniel Pond, 77, died on January 11 at his home in Wakefield, after a long illness. He was a member of Rocky Hock Methodist Church, a native of Surry, retired farmer and son of the late Frank Drew and Sarah Ely [sic; Elizabeth] White Pond. Survivors include one sister, Miss Lillian Pond, of Wakefield, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held January 13 at 2:30 at Rocky Hock Cemetery with Rev. L.P. Bland officiating. Pallbearers were J.N. Barker, Stanley Cooper, Aubrey Whitmore, Ernest Goodrich, B.E. Cowling, Sr., William Peebles and Morris Ellis.
