After coming to teach in Surry County, she met, married and moved to Little Surry with her husband, Robert M. Pond, Sr. They had two children, Moyler and Dianne. She later returned to teach in Surry, Wakefield, and Hopewell. Margaret's love of the Lord was so evident in the active part she took as a member of Rocky Hock Church. She taught church school for many years and her deep concern for sharing Christ's love through missions was shown in her support of the United Methodist Women. Music was an integral part of her life. She could be caught humming, whistling, or singing any time of the day. As a result, she enjoyed directing the choir for many years. In her final days when her speech was very faint, she was heard quoting her favorite psalm, Psalm 121, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. May help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." She was an inspiration to her family and community for her deep- rooted faith and optimistic outlook on life. May her service and daily witness, as well as others who have gone before us, inspire us to share the love of Christ. Margaret is buried next to her husband, Rob, in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Thanks to Moyler and Brenda Pond for the write-up and picture.
