IRENE LILLIAN HARRIS PRESSON 

  WAKEFIELD - Jan. 31 - Mrs. Irene Harris Presson, 76, widow of Joel Henry 
Presson, businessman of Surry County, died at her ancestral home, "Oak Ridge 
Farm," Sunday.  Mrs. Presson is survived by four daughters, Mrs. S.T. Atkins, 
of Portsmouth; Mrs. J.B. Darden, of Norfolk; Mrs. E.T. Swink, of Blacksburg, 
and Mrs. T. Lee Richardson, of Fork Union; one son, Arthur L. Presson, of 
Wakefield; a brother, Thomas J. Harris, of Philadelphia; 14 grandchildren and 
five great-grandchildren.  Funeral rites will be held at the home at 3 P.M. 
Tuesday, with interment in Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery.

Her parents, James Thomas Byrd & Alice J. (EDWARDS) HARRIS, are also buried 
   there.  (Find a Grave Mem. #9701158 &c.) 

Her father (1837-1894) was a Confederate veteran, having served in the 
   Surry Light Artillery.

    gives single, b. ca. 1874, Surry Co., dt/o Thomas S. & Allice S. Hanes, 
    citing p. 80 #35. 

Her first husband Edward T. FISHER (1874-1920) is buried in 
   Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
