ROGERS BY HER SON OLIVER ROGERS & FAMILY Ida Mae Rogers (1884 - 1958) was the daughter of Benjamin and Ansabelia Goodrich (see stain glass windows series). She was born on Cedar Point Farm. Later the house in which she was born in was moved to Williamsburg, rebuilt and restored. This house once stood at the site of Viola Lowe's home. Ida Mae married George W. Rogers and they had six children - Mary, Hattie, Oliver, Ben, Clarence and Bena. In 1915 her husband George died and she raised the children alone, the oldest being nine years old and the youngest an infant. When Ida Mae died at age 74, her funeral was held at her home and burial was at Rocky Hock Cemetery. Reverend Blankenship died the funeral and the music was provide by the Rocky Hock choir. Oliver Rogers (1909 - 1987), her third child, farmed all his life and married Mary Elizabeth Pittman. They had three children. Oliver was born on the family farm where his widow resides today. The farm has been in Oliver's family for over 100 years and is designated as a "Century Farm." Oliver was peanut producing champion in Surry County in 1966. He is buried in Rocky Hock Cemetery.
