EMMA S. CROCKER RICHARDSON 

MRS. RICHARDSON BURIED IN SURRY WED., AUGUST 10TH 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Crocker Richardson who died at the home of 
her son, Winston Richardson in Petersburg were conducted Wednesday Aug. 10th 
at 4 p.m. at Springhill Cemetery in Surry* County with the Rev. E.B. White 
and A.W.H. Jones, officiating.

  Mrs. Richardson, a native of Isle of Wight County was the daughter of the 
late Peter F. Crocker and Mrs. Georgianna Logan Crocker of Isle of Wight.

  Survivors are one son, Winston Richardson of Petersburg; one daughter, 
Mrs. Henry Savage of Dendron and several nieces and nephews.  Among them are 
Mrs. H.E. Holland of Smithfield, Mrs. J.C. Jones of Rushmere and Mrs. C.R. 
Anderson of Hampton.

interred in Spring Hill Christian Church Cemetery*, Sussex Co., 10 Aug 1943,

*Additional information: 

Her husband's obit ("Richmond Times-Dispatch," Feb. 24, 1932), 
   which spells his name "Alonza," is posted at:

He disappeared in the woods 13 Dec 1931, and his remains were not found 
   for some ten weeks. 

His name is spelled "Alonzo" on his marker, pictured with his 
   Find A Grave Memorial, #52731569.  

Emma's marker is pictured with hers, #52731527; it shows 1867 - 1943. 
   Her D.Cert. (#17001) gives b. 23 May 1868, & "Alonzo." 

Find A Grave lists the cemetery as Springhill, but a photo of the church shows 
   "Spring Hill Christian Church" over the door.  [They give 1 interment in 
   "Spring Hill Church Cemetery, Dendron, Surry Co."]  The church definitely 
   lies in Sussex Co. 

Google Maps gives "Spring Hill Church," Waverly, VA 23890 at coordinates 
   37.029103, -76.997034, but they give Spring Hill Rd. (Rt. 603) the wrong 
   route number (Jan 2017 - correction requested). 

Her father, Peter Frank CROCKER (1835 - 1916) is buried in 
   Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
