He was a retired systems analyst for Allied Chemical Corp. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorraine Eberhart Richardson of Hopewell; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Bartholomew of Grand Forks, N.D.; two sons, Edward M. Richardson, III, of Richmond and John Rives Richardson of Fairfax; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Cox of Fredericksburg; and four grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with interment in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart Fund or the Nazareth Lutheran Church Building Fund. Rives (Sep 1843 - 14 Jun 1906) was buried in a private family cemetery, in or near Wakefield.
