George Lee Savedge, 63, of Elberon, died in a Richmond hospital, Thursday, Sept. 15, after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident and farmer of Surry County. He was a member of Moore’s Swamp Baptist Church, served on its Board of Deacons and was chairman of the finance committee. Besides his wife, Frances James Savedge, he is survived by one son, James Lee Savedge of Richmond; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Wesley Barlow of Newport News; one brother. H. Scott Savedge of Suffolk; one sister, Mrs. Marjorie S. James of Smithfield, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Moore’s Swamp Baptist Church on September 17 at 2:30 with Rev. James R. Luck and Rev. E.M. Richardson, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry L. Bell, Ownie D. Bell, Horace S. King, Jr., Lane James, Henry S. Savedge, J. Fred Turner, Harry R. James and David Hux.
