ELSIE SAVEDGE STEWART 

  DENDRON - Elsie Savedge Stewart, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Louise Obici 
Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.

  Mrs. Stewart was a native of Surry County and a member of Union 
Congregational Christian Church, Surry.

  Survivors include one daughter, Ruby S. Hargrave of Wakefield; one son, J. 
Shelton Stewart, Jr. of Dendron; three sisters, Ocie S. Goard of Hopewell, 
Florence S. Roark of Newport News and Hilda S. Garrett of Hopewell; two 
brothers, T.N. Savedge of Newport News and Stanley B. Savedge of Dendron; 
five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

  A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church by the Revs. 
R.E. Brittle and Parker Hooper.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery, 
Surry.

  The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Purviance Funeral 
Home, Wakefield, and at other times at the residence of J.S. Stewart, Jr., 
Route 616, Dendron, VA.

  The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions 
to the Union Congregational Christian Church or Surry Rescue Squad.
