He was born in Newport News and was raised in Surry County. He was the son of the late Wyatt Slade III and Colteal Hill Slade. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam and was retired from Honeywell. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, DuPont Lodge 289, A.F.& A.M., Petersburg Union Royal Arch Chapter #7, Appomattox Commandery #6, Petersburg, ACCA Temple Shrine, Richmond, Past Worshipful Master of Wakefield Lodge #198 A.F. & A.M., Past Worthy Patron of Adah Chapter #7, Eastern Star, Hopewell Shrine Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Loyal Order of Moose, Hopewell. Mr. Slade is survived by his wife, Kay Slade; and daughter, Kathy Slade of Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Wash, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
