A native of Surry County, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Lowe Sr. and the widow of J. Russell Smith. She was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church and secretary of the Virginia State Regional Laboratory, Ivor. Besides her parents, she is survived by a son, Carl R. Smith, Richmond; a daughter, Miss Penny Sue Smith, Fredericksburg; a sister, Mrs. J.C. Whitmore, and three brothers, G. Franklin Lowe, Alvin H. Lowe Jr. and Vernon V. Lowe, all of Wakefield. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. R.L. Consolvo and the Rev. L.P. Bland officiating. Burial took place in the Rocky Hock Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. C.W. Griffin, Robert J. Layne, C.M. Ellis, Gilbert Rollings, Dr. Paul Strom, Stanley Walker, Lyle H. Pond and Dr. David C. Forbes. Violet Frances (LOWE; Mrs. J.
