A native of Surry County, she was the widow of J. Russell Smith and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Lowe Sr. of Wakefield. She was a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Surry County. Survivors, besides her parents, are a son, Carl R. Smith of Richmond; a daughter, Miss Penny Sue Smith of Fredericksburg; a sister, Mrs. J.E. Whitmore Jr.; and three brothers, G. Franklin Lowe, Alvin H. Lowe, Jr. and Vernon V. Lowe, all of Wakefield. A funeral service will be held today at 3:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. R.L. Consolvo and the Rev. L.P. Bland. Smith, Richmond; a daughter, Miss Penny Sue Smith, Fredericksburg; a sister, Mrs. J.C. Whitmore, and three brothers, G. Franklin Lowe, Alvin H. Lowe Jr. and Vernon V. Lowe, all of Wakefield. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. R.L. Consolvo and the Rev. L.P. Bland officiating. Burial took place in the Rocky Hock Church Cemetery.
