Obed E. Skinner 

  PORTSMOUTH - Obed Edward Skinner, 78, died Wednesday. 

  Born in Norfolk, he retired from Southern States Corp. in 1965 after 13 
years of service

  He was a member of Dendron Baptist Church.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucy Blair Faison Skinner; a daughter, 
Mrs. Virginia Fuqua of Big Spring, Texas; a son Darwin Lee Skinner of 
Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Louise S. Carr of Chesapeake, Mrs. Issie S. 
Boekley of Moyock, N.C., and Mrs. Indy S. Oeland of San Diego; nine 
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

  A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Faison family 
cemetery, Surry County, by the Rev. Parker Hooper.

  Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield is in charge.
