Mrs. Scarborough was a native of Spring Grove, VA. She was a member of Union Congregational Christian Church in Surry County and was an employee for the U.S. Postal service for 24 years and was also employed at Fort Lee as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of Laurel Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star, Claremont, Spring Grove Community Club, and the Rusty Needles Club of Surry County, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Florence Sober Huber; husband, Samuel Ashton Scarborough; son, John Ashton Scarborough and a granddaughter, JoAnne A. Pittman. Mrs. Scarborough is survived by her daughter, Marion S. Koon of Glen Allen, VA; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family received friends at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son in Wakefield, Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 3 to 5 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Union Congregational Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
