He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Bennett Seward; a son, Joseph J. Seward, Jr., both of Surry; three daughters, Miss Annie Seward of Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. Reney Stallings, of Surry, and Mrs. W.M. Steele, of Newark, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. E.C. Adams and Mrs. L.B. Bennett, both of Surry. Joseph John SEWARD, farmer, b. 8 Nov 1868, Surry Co., d. 11 Oct 1948, Surry Co., interred in Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Surry Co., 13 Oct 1948, donated obit, posted with Find a Grave Mem. #102013913 Birthdate &c. from D.Cert. 23747 (Cobham #13), which gives s/o James Rowell & Ann Eliza (LANE) SEWARD. His parents m. 29 Dec 1853 in Surry Co. His father was a Confederate veteran, having served in the Surry Cavalry - Co. G, 13th Va. Cav., CSA.
