Mrs. Seward, born in Richmond, was a retired nurse's aide. She was a member of Moore's Swamp Baptist Church, Elberon. She was a widow of Beverly A. Seward Sr., Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lillian S. Babb, Elberon, Ms. Jane S. Marks, Franklin; one son, B. Alvin Seward, Jr., Elberon; two sisters, Ms. Odie B. Huber, Wakefield; Mrs. Dorothy B. Edwards, Portsmouth; two brothers, Dr. R.E. Brittle, Franklin; G. Cephas Brittle, Wakefield; also 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at Moore’s Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. H. Ben Topping Jr. and Dr. R.E. Brittle officiating. The family request memorial donations may be made to the Moore's Swamp Baptist Church Building Fund or the Surry County Volunteer Rescue Squad. Pallbearers were W.W. Lane Jr., Gregor Huber, H. Lane James, H.S. King, Jr., Charles Brittle and Paul Wrenn. Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
