J.E. WEST 

  J.E. West, 67*, of Surry died of paralysis Sunday night.  Funeral services 
were conducted at the grave in Oakland [sic; Oakwood*) cemetery, Tuesday at 
2:30 p.m., Rev. T.W. Page officiating.  

  Mr. West was a native of Sussex County, but had made his home here for 
the last 25 years.  He is survived by his wife Mrs. Minnie Hatch West; four 
children, Mrs. Ashley [sic; Ashby] Raiford and Edgar Ware West, of Newport 
News, Mrs. Will Berryman and Herman K. West, of Surry; two grandchildren, 
Ann West and Carol Raiford of Newport News; a brother, H.M. West of Richmond; 
and a sister, Mrs. L.B. Faison, of Wakefield.

Occupation from his D.Cert. (#28646 {Surry #20}), which gives b. 1870.
