WOMAN KILLS DAUGHTER, THEN SHOOTS LITTLE SON 

Mrs. Westbrook, When Husband Rushed in, 
   Said She Wanted to Finish the Job. 

  PETERSBURG, VA., August 9. - Mrs. Maude Westbrook, wife of C.W. Westbrook, 
a prominent farmer and deputy sheriff of Surry County, shot and killed her 
six-year-old daughter today and fatally wounded her son, aged five years. 
The wounded boy died about two hours after being shot. 

  When her husband, hearing the shots, rushed into the room, the mother was 
reloading the gun, saying she wanted to "finish the job."  Her three weeks 
old baby on the bed was unharmed.  She had been in ill health for some months.

Dorothy's middle name from B.Cert. 44057 (Guilford #15); 
   D.Cert. 21064 (Guilford #14) gives Dorothy Kathrine. 

William & Dorothy share a gravestone (Find a Grave Mem. #88691268 & #88691419; 
   Dorothy's Mem. gives Dorothy Katherine. 

Their father (25 Jan 1885 - 10 Nov 1934) & his parents also buried there. 

Their brother Roland Hite WESTBROOK (23 Nov 1923 - 15 Sep 2019) is buried in 
   Washington Memorial Park, Sandston, Henrico Co. 
   (Find a Grave Mem. #203081501) 

Their mother (20 Dec 1894 - 15 Aug 1943) is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, 
   South Boston, Halifax Co.  (Find a Grave Mem. #183011845)
