He was a member of Moore's Swamp Baptist Church and the Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie B. White; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy W. Grubbs of Elberon; a son, Samuel W. White, Jr., of Elberon and a sister, Mrs. Elbert Cockes of Surry; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A funeral services was held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, at Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield with Rev. E.M. Richardson and Rev. N.C. Clifton officiating. Burial was in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.A. Logan, G.A. Gwaltney, Jr., W.J. Thomas, E.T. Laine, H.L. Bailey, G.W. Seward, Clyde L. Cofer, J.N. Savedge, L.F. Smith and E.W. Goodrich.
