ARA WHITMORE, 80 BURIED MARCH 4 Funeral services were held from the home of Mrs. C.G. Goodrich March 4th for Mrs. Ara Adna Whitmore, 80, who died after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late William Edward Whitmore who died last May, and the daughter of the late Joseph and Adlina Stewart Thompson of Surry County. Mrs. Whitmore was a member of the Congregational Christian Church. She is survived by five sons, Joel Claude Whitmore, of Wakefield; E.T. Whitmore of Crewe; W.H. Whitmore of Petersburg, and G.T. and M.B. Whitmore of Newport News; two daughters, Mrs. C.G. Goodrich and Mrs. R.C. Carroll, both of Wakefield; 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
