WHITMORE OF WAKEFIELD DIES; HOLD RITES TODAY Wakefield - March 3. _ Mrs. Ara Adna Whitmore, 80, widely-known resident of the Wakefield community and Surry County, died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.G. Goodrich, after a short illness. She was the widow of William Edward Whitmore, and daughter of the late Joseph and Adlina Stewart Thompson [sic*] of Surry County. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, Wakefield. Surviving are five sons, Joel Claude Whitmore of Wakefield, E.T. Whitmore of Crewe, W.H. Whitmore of Petersburg, and G.T. Whitmore and M.B. Whitmore, both of Newport News; two daughters, Mrs. C.G. Goodrich and Mrs. R.C. Carroll, both of Wakefield; 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and one niece. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday from the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.G. Goodrich, with the Rev. C.E. Gerringer officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery, Surry County. ****************************************************************************** MRS. She was the widow of the late William Edward Whitmore who died last May, and the daughter of the late Joseph and Adlina Stewart Thompson [sic*] of Surry County. Mrs. Whitmore was a member of the Congregational Christian Church. She is survived by five sons, Joel Claude Whitmore, of Wakefield; E.T. Whitmore of Crewe; W.H. WHITMORE Funeral services for Mrs. Ara Adna Whitmore, 80, were conducted Monday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.G. Goodrich at Wakefield by the Rev. C.E. Gerringer, former pastor. Interment was made in Rocky Hock Cemetery. Mrs. Whitmore, well-known resident of Wakefield and Surry County, died suddenly Saturday night. She was the widow of the late William Edward Whitmore and the daughter of the late Joseph and Adlina Stewart Thompson [sic*] of Surry County. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, Wakefield. She is survived by five sons Joel Claude Whitmore of Wakefield; E.T. Whitmore, of Crewe; W.H. Whitmore of Petersburg; G.T. and M.B.
