WHITMORE WAKEFIELD - Edward C. (Tiger) Whitmore, 67, of Phoenix, Ariz., a Surry County native, died Thursday in a Phoenix hospital. He had formerly lived in Chester and was a retired electrician and member of Local 666, IBEW, Richmond. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Milburn Whitmore; his mother, Mrs. E.T. Whitmore of Crewe; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Pond of Crewe; and two brothers, Wilbur Whitmore of Crewe and Lynwood Whitmore of Point Pleasant, N.J. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday in Phoenix. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery, Surry County, by the Rev. James M. Tongue. He is also served by his mother, Mrs. E.T. Whitmore of Crewe; two brothers, Wilbur Whitmore of Crewe, Lynwood Whitmore of Point Pleasant, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday in Phoenix, Ariz. A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, February 25 at 3 p.m. in the Rocky Hock Methodist Church Cemetery in Surry Co. The remains rest at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield.
