AUDREY MAE BISHOP WILLIAMS 

  Audrey Bishop Williams, 96, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2006, at her home. 
Born in Dendron, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Robert 
Bishop and Hattie Skinner Bishop.  She leaves to cherish her precious memory, 
her husband of 67 years, Luther Thurman Williams.  Mrs. Williams graduated 
from Harrisonburg State Teacher College, and had also attended the College of 
William and Mary.  She retired in 1973 after 40 years of teaching in 
Claremont, Dendron and Surry Elementary Schools, was a member of the Virginia 
and National Education Association, the Surry Garden Club, and the Dendron 
Christian Church where she played the piano and taught the Young Adult Class 
for 40 years.  Besides her husband, she is survived by a niece, Marilyn Morey 
Eavey of Hagerstown, Md.; one great-niece.  She was predeceased by a sister, 
Lillian Ruth Morey.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2006, 
at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. 
Cecil Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Wakefield Cemetery.  The 
family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, 7 to 9 
p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to the Surry volunteer Rescue Squad, 
P.O. Box 188, Surry, Va. 23883, or to the Dendron Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. 
Box 155, Dendron, Va. 23839.  Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, assisted the 
family with arrangements.
