SURRY COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - John Allen to Samuell Lancaster, 19 Aug 1712 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Deeds: John Allen-Samuell Lancaster, Southmark Twnship, Surry Co, VA INDENTURE BETWEEN JOHN ALLEN AND SAMUELL LANCASTER 19 AUG 1712 THIS INDENTURE made the 19th day of August in the eleventh year of the reign of our sovereign Lady Ann by the grace of God of Great Brittain, France & Ireland Queen defender of the faith &c. & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & twelve, between John Allen of the Couty of Surry, gentleman, of the one part & Samuell Lancaster of the same County, planter, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Allen for & in consideration of the sume of five shillings to him in hand paid by the said Samuell Lancaster at & before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof & himself therewith fully satisfyed, contented & paid, he doth hereby acknowledge & for divers other causes him thereunto moving. HATH granted, bargained, sold, demised, leased & to farm letter & by these presents doth grant, bargain sell, demise & to farm let unto the said Samuell Lancaster, his executors, administrators & assigns a certain tract or parcell of land on the south side of the main Blackwater Swamp in the County aforesaid containing three hundred & fifty acres of land be the same more or less, which said tract or parcell of land is part of a pattent formerly granted to James Allen dated the 25th day of Aprill 1701 for fourteen hundred acres & by the said James given & bequeathed in his Last Will & Testament to the above named John Allen & his heirs forever (as relaticon (relation) to the said Will being had may more at large appear) bounded Viz: Beginning at the mouth of a branch on the south side of the main Blackwater Swamp aforesaid (which said branch divides this land from the land of Robert Lancaster, Jr) thence up the run of the said branch to a marked white oak stump standing in the head line of the said pattent on the northside of the said branch, thence south two degrees & a half westerly a hundred & two pole to a red oak then south twenty seven degrees east a hundred & ten pole to a pine, then south fourteen degrees west a hundred & forty six pole to a corner of Thomas Pitmans land & by the said Pitman's line east a hundred & sixty pole to the main Blackwater Swamp side aforesaid & up the various courses of the run of the said swamp to the begining. TOGETHER with all and singular the orchards, houses, gardens, woods, ways & waters & all other royaltys, priviledges, profits, commodytys, & advantages whatsoever to the said tract or parcell of land belonging or in any wise appertaining or therewith or with any part thereof, used, enjoyed, or accepted, reputed or taken as part & parcell or member thereof and the Reversion & Reversion(s), Remainder & Remainders thereof & of every part & parcell thereof. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract or parcell of land with all & singular the premises hereby demised, granted, bargained, & sold unto the said Samuell, his executors, administrators & assigns from the day next before the day of the date of these presents for & during the term of one whole year fully to be compleated & ended. YIELDING AND PAYING therefore to the said John, his executors, administrators & assigns on the feast day of St. Michael the Archangell next ensuing the date hereof one ear of Indian corn if the same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents & of the statute for transferring uses into possession the said Samuell may be in actuall possession of the premises & be enabled to take & accept of a grant & Release of the Reversion & Inheritance & hereof to him, his heirs & assigns forever. IN WITNESS whereof the partys first above named to these present Indentures have inter-changeably set their hands & seals the day & year first above written.
