SURRY COUNTY, VA - WILLS - John Allen, 19 Dec 1699 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: John Allen, Southmark Parish, Surry Co, VA WILL OF JOHN ALLEN (1699) In the name of God amen the 19th day of December 1699 and in the eleventh year of the reign of our most gracious loving sovereign Lord King William, the Third of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, defender of the faith, ye John Allen of Southmark Parish in Surry County being very sound and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory (thanks be to almighty God for the same) and wanting formost the unsti? same state of that transferred life, and that all flesh making life and death when it shall please God to rest?(take?) and being desirous to sett things in order do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, Revoking and absolutely annuling by these presents all and every betterment and testament with and without by me heretofore made and declared either by word or by writing notwithstanding any promise to the contrary. First I bequeath my soul for almighty God, my maker and to Jesus Christ, my redemeer, and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as to my Executor shall for thought meet there to rest until my soul and body shall meet again and be joyned together at the joyful resurection and be made, partakened of the never fading joyes of immortality with God in mercy through the meritts of Jesus Christ above hath promised and prepared for all those that truly, ye unfeignedly repent and believe in him. And forsaking such temporal estate of goods, chattells and debts so the Lord hath been pleased farr above my defects to bestow upon mee I do order, give, bequeath and dispose thereof in manner and form following: I give and bequeath to my first son John when he shall attain the age of twenty-one years, one shilling sterling money of England to be payd to him by my Executor, hereinafter named and not-more-of what nature or quality server of my estate. I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Sarah, one feather bed that she now lyes on with bolster, one paire of sheetes, a blankett, rugg, over and above her equal part of residue of my estate to be delivered to her immediately after my death and also her mother's cloathes, lately deceased, and for the rest, residue of my estate, whether here or elsewhere to be equally divided amongst my three youngest children to each one one third part to be paid by my Executor; for the boys, when they shall come to the age of eighteen years and for the girls when she shall come to sixteen years of age or day of marriage, as shall first happen and for their heirs forever. Also I make to my estate and appoint Nathaniel Harrison, my sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament impowering him to make payments of all my just debts and legacies as witness my hand and seal this day and year above written. signed John E.
