In the name of God Amen, I John H. BELL of the County of Surry, being of sound mind and memory, 
do make and ordain this to be my last Will and testament in manner and form as is hereafter 
mentioned or described.
Item, My Will and desire is that my Son James BELL Salley BELL, Lucy BELL, Samuel BELL and 
Thomas BELL be supported on the profits arising from my estate untill they shall arive to the 
age that they will be able to support themselves.
Item  My desire is, that my Land and Plantation whereon I now live be equally divided between 
my five sons namely, William W. BELL, John H. BELL, James BELL, Samuel BELL and Thomas BELL, to
them and their heirs forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sally BELL fifty pounds cash, to her and her heirs 
forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Lucy BELL fifty pounds cash, to her and her heirs 
forever
Item, My Will and desire is at my death that all my personal estate, Still included be sold, 
and the money ariseing therefrom, after paying my just debts, and the aforementioned Legacies &
charges be equally divided between all my children, namely William W. BELL, John H. BELL James 
BELL, Salley BELL, Lucy BELL, Samuel BELL & Thomas BELL to them and their heirs forever.
Item, Lastly I constitute and appoint my Brothers James BELL and Micajah BELL my whole and sole

of this my last Will and Testament.  In Witness whereof i have hereunto set my hand and seal 
this twenty fourth day of August eighteen hundred and fourteen.

At a Court continued by adjournment and held for Surry County Novr. 28th 1826
     The within last Will and Testament of John H Bell dec.d presented in Court, James JONES 
the only subscribing Witness thereto, being dead, whereupon John FAULCON was sworn & examined, 
and declared he had frequently seen the said JONES write, and that he is well acquainted with 
the hand writing of the said James JONES.  Whereupon the said writing is received as & for the 
last Will & Testament of the said John H. BELL dec.d as far as respects personal estate, and 
ordered to be recorded.  Liberty is reserved the Executors named to qualify when they shall 
think fit.
