SURRY COUNTY, VA - WILLS - William Lyle, 1713 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Wills: William Lyle, Southmark Parish, Surry Co, VA WILL OF WILLIAM LYLE (1713) (partial) In the name of God amen, I, William Lyle of Southmark parish, Surry County, planter, being very well in health & memory do make this my Last Will & Testament. First I bequeath my soule to God that gave me itt trusting in the merritts of my savior Jesus Christ & my body to be decently buried according to the directions of executors hereafter mentioned & my substance or estate to be disposed of as followeth viz: Item: I give unto my son George my second best bed & two pewter dishes, half a dozen spoons & my bigest iron pot but one & my gun & simiter & all my wearing cloathes & likewise a cow & calf. These I will my son George should immediately possess after my death but if my son George should die without issue, that then I will this legacy should fall to my son Thomas & if my son Thomas should die, then I will they should fall from one child to the other likewise. I give my loom & what belong thereto to my son George he weaving his mother cloath. Item: I give unto my dear & loving wife all the remaining part of my estate during the time of her widdowhood but an if my (widow) should marry, then it is my will that my estate after all my legal debts are paid be equally divided amongst my wife & children, viz: these children that lives with me at my death lastly I constitute......(end of page). NOTE from the transcriber: This partial will appeared at the bottom of one of my ancester's documents I include it here in the event it is of some help to those researching the Lyle name. Spelling is as appeared on the original document. There is no date on the portion of document above, but it follows immediately after my document which was recorded Aprill 15th 1713. The word "(widow)"was added by transcriber. There is no word between "if my" and "should marry".
